Melbourne

We love Melbourne.  We definitely think it is a place you should visit.  It has incredible food, great restaurants, nice sidewalk cafes, fantastic shopping, culture & art, super friendly people & just lots to keep you busy!  It's very multicultural  too.  There is Little Greece, Little Italy, Chinatown.  We had great dim sum, great Italian food, wonderful sausage rolls & pies and the best coffee!!

Favourite Restaurants

  • St. Kilda - restaurants & more!!!!! (all up & down Aclain Street)
  • Chapel Street in Prahan - restaurants & more!!! (incredible shopping)
  • All up & down & around Collins Street & Elizabeth Street (in the alleys)
  • Pelligrini's (for the best Italian coffee ever)
  • Janine's Italian place
  • Take Away #6 (sausage rolls, risotto balls & chicken schnitzel)
  • Lygon Street - great Italian food all around!
  • There is a kick ass bar across the street from Flinder's Street Station too that we can't remember the name of.
  • Vodka, Borsht & Tears - the most unbelievable selection of vodka you've ever seen (outside of Russia).
  • Melbourne Supper Club - great wines, ports, deserts.  Lots of movie stars here too.
  • Revolver - great live bands - nod to Stuie here :)
  • Cafe Fidama - in Yarraville (best breakfast ever - a big piece of chunky toast with stewed tomatoes, fresh spinach, crispy pancetta, a poached egg & drizzled with balsamic vinegar...oohhhhh).  Great coffee too!
  • Try This - in Yarravile (best risotto balls ever, incredible cheeses, quince paste, incredible everything...so nice too - sat next to Guy Pearce that day).  Great coffee too!
  • Alpha Bake Shop - in Yarraville

Favourite Sites

  • Royal Melbourne Golf Club - voted #1 course in OZ.  Incredible, incredible course.  I think we saw 2 other groups of golfers all day.
  • Abracadabra Magic Shop - one of the best magic shops I'd ever seen.  It was just this house in the suburbs.  We totally thought we were lost & then stumbled upon it.  They had a great garage full of stuff & a couple rooms of the house full of stuff.  Incredible selection.  Great magician guys working (definitely for enthusiasts...no tourists..).  Awesome.
  • South Bank - very cool lane of stalls along the Yarra River & then great shops & restaurants attached to Crown Casino.
  • Queen Victoria Market - Chris's favorite part is the incredible selection of cheeses, salamis, sausage rolls & pies.  Heather loves the incredibly fresh fruit & vegetables too.  Mom likes all the tons & tons of swap meet stalls.
  • Flinder's Street Station - just very cool architecture.
